Semester 1: the big picture
You learn how the global aviation industry fits together, what aviation security and emergency response involve, and how customer service works at every point a passenger meets the airline or airport.
Semester 2: the working skills
Reservation and ticketing is how bookings are made and tickets are issued. Aviation geography is the world map behind routes and destinations. Aviation English and communication skills covers the clear, standard language the industry depends on.
Semester 3: the business side
Sales and marketing in travel and aviation looks at how airlines and travel companies win customers. Passenger terminal management is about how an airport terminal is run. Airline and airport economics asks how these businesses earn and spend their money.
Semester 4: running operations
Passenger handling at the airport and aircraft dispatch and turnaround (passenger and cargo) are the operational heart of ground work: getting people and freight on and off an aircraft and the aircraft ready for its next flight. The Safety Management System unit covers the structured method organisations use to find and manage safety risks.
The internship
The programme includes an internship (terms apply). Ask admissions for the current terms before you plan around it.
Where it leads
The Diploma is a complete qualification in its own right. Completing it also qualifies you for direct entry to the Pearson BTEC HND in Aviation Management.
