Finished your O/Levels? Where to start in aviation management
If you have just finished your G.C.E. Ordinary Levels and aviation interests you, the first question is not "which course?" but "where do I start?" At Aspire the aviation management programmes run in four levels, and the right starting point depends on the results and experience you have today.
If your O/Level results were not what you hoped
The Foundation in Aviation Management accepts any O/Level result. It lasts 3 months and introduces airline and airport operations, safety, security and customer service. Most students use it to find out whether aviation is right for them before committing to the twelve-month diploma.
If you have five passes, including Maths and English
You can go straight to the Diploma in Aviation Management, a programme that runs for 12 months, covers the operational core of the industry across four semesters and includes an internship (terms apply). Completing it qualifies you for direct entry to the Pearson BTEC HND.
Started with the Foundation? An accepted Foundation also qualifies you for the Diploma, so the two routes meet.
After the Diploma: the Pearson BTEC HND
The HND in Aviation Management is a United Kingdom qualification at RQF 4–5 that runs for 24 months, delivered at our Colombo 07 campus. You can join with two A/Level passes, with a diploma you already hold, or with five O/Level passes and five years of work experience.
From the HND, the next step is Aspire's Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma, which opens a pathway to master's-level study.
A quick way to decide
- Any O/Level result, or not yet sure about aviation: start with the Foundation.
- Five passes including Maths and English: start with the Diploma.
- Two A/Level passes, or you already hold a diploma: the HND is open to you directly.
- Not sure where you fit? Our counsellors assess your qualifications at no charge, or try the Level Finder on the home page.
