No A/Levels? The routes into a Pearson BTEC HND
Many people assume a Higher National Diploma needs A/Levels. At Aspire, A/Levels are one of four routes in. Here they are, as the HND in Aviation Management states them. The HND in Business and the HND in International Travel & Tourism list the same four kinds of route; check each programme page for its exact wording.
- Option ATwo passes at G.C.E. Advanced Level
- Option BYou already hold a diploma, which qualifies you for direct entry to the HND
- Option CFive passes at G.C.E. Ordinary Level, with five years of work experience
- Option DExemptions approved by the Board of Examinations
If you hold a diploma
A diploma you already hold qualifies you for direct entry. Aspire's own diplomas count: completing the Diploma in Aviation Management qualifies you for the HND in Aviation Management, and completing the Diploma in Business qualifies you for the HND in Business.
If you have O/Levels and work experience
Five O/Level passes plus five years of work experience is a route in. Ask admissions what kind of experience counts and what proof you will need.
If you have exemptions
Exemptions approved by the Board of Examinations are the fourth route. They are decided case by case.
If none of these fit yet
You can still get there. Start with a diploma in the same field and step into the HND when you complete it. Below diploma level, the Foundation in Aviation Management accepts any O/Level result, and the Certificate in Digital Marketing has no entry requirements at all.
